Joanne McCallum is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of mcCallumSather. From the firm’s inception, she’s instilled a commitment to environmentally conscious practices, positioning it as an industry leader in sustainable design. A mentor to clients, design teams and the construction community, she is recognized for facilitating data-driven design processes, developing compelling business cases for sustainable design adoption, and her commitment to an integrated design process. She is a frequent speaker on the topic, sharing her experiences and lessons learned, fulfilling mcCallumSather’s mission to continuously advance sustainable design intelligence.

A hands-on leader, Joanne remains active on select projects providing sustainable design oversight, functional programming and design oversight, focused primarily on education, healthcare, and residential sectors.

As a business leader, advisor and Board Director, Joanne has been part of the leadership within industry organizations including the CaGBC, Pro-Demnity Insurance and OAA.She has been a member of the Ontario Association of Architects and Royal Architectural Institute since 1989 and LEED Accredited Professional with the Canada Green Building Council since 2004. She was instrumental in the rejuvenation of the Hamilton Society of Architects in 1989, rebranding the organization to be the Hamilton Burlington Society of Architects. Joanne was elected to the College of Fellows of the Architectural Institute of Canada sat on the Board of the Canadian Green Building Council from 2012-2018. She expanded her work as a Board representative in 2018, joining the Board of Directors Pro-Demnity Insurance Company and assuming the role of Board Chair during the years 2020-2023, continuing on as an active director until her term expires in 2025.
