Opportunity

Hamilton Health Sciences’ vision for the Escarpment Cancer Research Institute was a joint research institute, a partnership between Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster University. The goal for the addition to the Juravinski Hospital site was to bring together several strong, well-established, and successful cancer research groups that exist at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre and McMaster University, in addition to a relatively new and emerging translational research group.

Response

Within this shared scientific environment, the design exemplifies a dynamic interdisciplinary space that supports a more efficient use of shared research resources and infrastructure, shaping the potential for knowledge transfer, creative collisions, and greater opportunity for collaboration of some of our city’s best medical minds. Its arrangement of informal, and formal gatherings compliments the arrangement of office and laboratory settings.
