Procter & Gamble Converting Line Expansion

Procter & Gamble was exploring the expansion of its last Canadian manufacturing facility in Belleville. The goal was to add 100,000 sq. ft., housing four converting lines and expanding their footprint by 10% to a million sq. ft. campus. P&G made the commitment to perform all projects over a certain value as an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), and to meet sustainability targets with LEED certification.

As the local architect in partnership with Burns & McDonnell and BIRD Construction, the group invested in significant team building from the outset, investment that contributed to project success once COVID lockdowns began part way through the project. The team led extensive planning and communication with the City, Conservation Authorities, and Ministry of Transportation. Creative approaches resulted in early works permits for foundation work and several other separate permits as the design evolved and confidence was established for specific elements, helping keep the project on its ambitious schedule. The addition is targeted for LEED Gold Certification.
