Trailside Medical Centre
Opportunity
With the development of the nearby Groves Memorial Community Hospital, there was a need for a centralized, companion centre that would help efficiently serve the needs of Centre Wellington, Fergus, Elora, and the surrounding areas. It represented an opportunity to facilitate better coordination of care and easier access for both patients and healthcare providers.
Response
Situated adjacent to the scenic Elora Cataract Trail, this medical facility has the unique opportunity to blend essential healthcare services with the natural beauty of the local landscape. The 30,000 sq. ft. facility is home to physicians and allied healthcare practitioners, offering a comprehensive range of medical services. Structural steel and glued-laminated heavy-timber framing are complemented by rough-cut stone masonry. Large windows and strategic placement of glazing ensure ample natural light throughout the building. The design integrates seamlessly with the adjacent Elora Cataract Trail, promoting connectivity between the healthcare facility and the natural surroundings.
