ROLE

The Intermediate/Senior Mechanical Technologist/Designer plays an important role in the design team. Our ideal candidate is a team player with the ability to receive and execute instructions from the Senior Engineer or Project Manager with minimal supervision.  The Intermediate Designer will provide guidance and delegate to the junior engineering staff.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with and support senior personnel; oversee and direct junior members of the production team

ROLE

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Lead and Associate, Mary Georgious, the senior mechanical engineer will provide leadership and guidance to the engineering team on a wide range of projects, from residential, health care, post-secondary, commercial, corporate, science & research and municipal. The senior mechanical engineer will work well independently and manage project schedules and budgets, clearly delegate tasks, and provide oversight of the teams assigned to their projects. The successful candidate will work closely with mcCallumSather’s project managers, sub-consultant teams, and directly with clients. This includes client presentations, interviews and active participation in client meetings. It is important the senior mechanical engineer embrace sustainability in all that they do within the firm, understanding the role of energy modelling and building science and will help to drive the firm’s sustainable design leadership both locally and nationally.

The role of Intermediate Construction Administrator (CA) will involve performing traditional field and office CA duties under the supervision of senior personnel including senior contract administrators, project managers and project architects. We are looking for a technologist, intern architect, architect or heritage professional in the Architectural Discipline, experienced in the conservation of historic buildings and sites. Focused on team work, our ideal candidate will be hands on in the development of a full range of heritage focused deliverables including work on site, writing reports and in delivering presentations.

Our heritage studio is quickly expanding, within the context of our firm’s broad range of projects, typologies and client types. Our projects include high profile heritage consultation and architectural conservation for The Tivoli Theatre & Condos, The Westinghouse Headquarters, Huck Glove and several other developments. Additionally, we have worked on notable heritage attractions including Dundurn Castle in Hamilton and McMaster University’s storied Phoenix Pub & Restaurant.
